When Corporate is chasing a non-viable opportunity (need, belief, opportunity, anticipation) The Wedge of Indifference – Corporate Mandates!. The “Wedge of Indifference” leads to getting escalations to evaluate an opportunity that none of the departments are interested in doing it, this can lead to Executive Mandates.
The Wedge of Indifference is the intersect of:
Corporate wants to fund It, Wants to Buy
Don’t want to Sell and Can’t build!
This kind of politics is typically the result of the company lacking a compelling, viable, shared vision of the future across all departments, aka. Strong Attractors.
Executive teams lacking Strong Attractors, tend to force their teams into embracing less desirable, and less profitable, opportunities. The natural response from the organization is apathy and passive aggressive behavior on an organizational level. . Click slide to see in context of slide deck
