Scientific Management System and it’s impact on productivity Taylor and Gantt, hit the road in the 1900’s with their systemic productivity remedy, Scientific Management:
Replace rule-of-thumb work with methods based on a scientific study of the specific tasks
Scientifically select, train, and develop each employee rather than passively leaving them to train themselves
Provide "Detailed instruction and supervision of each worker in the performance of that worker's task
Divide work and responsibility almost equally between management and workers who were paid by the piece
Gantt improved the system by offering Workers and Management a bonus for reaching targeted quotas.
Net result: 3X increase in productivity; predictability in the production of goods; management could estimate delivery times with a high degree of certainty.
To aid in WWI, the industrial military complex soon adopted the method, traditionalizing Taylor’s system. Dimension #1 – Implementation Management, Gantt. Gantt Chart – Bonus for hitting Quota. ©2018 iiSM.ORG, All Rights Reserved. Click slide to see in context of slide deck
